Limited production run available for pre-order

We were hoping to be able to begin production with more of a splash after a successful Kickstarter campaign, but we’ve started a bit slower than expected. We are still very exciting to announce that our first production run is nearly ready for shipment. We will begin shipping kits on April 13th.

This first production run will feature the 36V and 48V kits in the 20Ah variety, as seen on the Kickstarter campaign.

In the meantime, you can view the kits and pre-order on the Shop page. If you have any questions, feel free to drop us a line at DIYbatteries(at)gmail(dot)com. Thank you all for your support and we are excited for what the future holds!

Hello world!

I believe that lithium batteries are an important step on the road to large scale personal energy storage. From small electronics to electric vehicles and even home energy storage, lithium batteries are one of the best solutions for consumers to store their own energy.

For a long time though it was really difficult to build your own lithium batteries at home. We were all stuck buying clunky, off the shelf solutions that didn’t fit most of our applications.

I began building lithium batteries back in 2011 and have been following the advances in lithium battery technology and pack construction ever since. This site is set up to help advance the field of DIY lithium battery construction in 3 ways:

  1. By providing free information and recommendations on the construction of DIY lithium battery packs
  2. By providing a community (via the forums) to discuss and further educate about DIY lithium batteries
  3. By providing to consumers the Maker Battery kits I designed, at fair prices, in an effort to make battery building even more accessible.

This is very much still the beginning of a journey, and only time will tell how successful this site, its community and Maker Batteries in general will be. But I plan to invest as much of my own time, energy and experience as I can to ensure that anyone who wants to learn to build a DIY battery has the resources to do so.
